From the time Baahubali: The Beginning released, it left us in the lurch with a promise of a second part, we knew the wait will be difficult. The original film might not have a grand storyline but the way it was presented, people hadn’t seen something like that for more than a decade now. The trailer of the sequel is finally out and we can’t get enough of it. Given the fact that the first film was a huge hit, we know the follow up will be no less but does it have in it to become the biggest blockbuster of 2017 as of now. Shah Rukh Khan’s Raees holds that spot at present. (Also read: Baahubali 2: The Conclusion copies this scene from Dwayne Johnson’s Hercules – watch video)

Yes, we definitely are asking this question. Why? Simply because the trailer of Baahubali 2 has promised more riches than its predecessor. Grandeur was one thing that had brought the crowd to the theatres for the first film. And this time there is the story too which people are looking forward. After Kattappa left everyone high and dry in the first film my stabbing Baahubali without giving a reason, people went crazy about it, looking for an answer in memes and internet jokes. Now that it will be out in the open in April, we will finally get the real answer. That means the film has a huge recall value. That alone will prompt the film to go forward. As for Shah Rukh Khan’s Raees, the film with Rs. 131 crore and more is the highest grosser of 2017 as of now. If Baahubali 2 delivers what it has promised, SRK’s gangster drama might have to vacate the top spot for Prabhas’s war epic.

There are other reasons for that too. One, Baahubali 2 will have no competition for 2-3 weeks. Last time, Bajrangi Bhaijaan released only a week after Prabhas’ film and yet it made more than Rs. 100 crore in the Hindi version alone. Imagine its might at the box office. If it can withstand Salman Khan, we are pretty sure toppling Shah Rukh Khan’s Raees won’t be much of a problem for this SS Rajamouli war wonder. Second, unlike Raees, it won’t be sharing screen space at the theatres with another equally big film. That means a solo release and a clear run for weeks.

Also when we spoke to our Trade Experts, Baahubali 2 will earn Rs. 500 crore. Guess that answers this question perfectly. But what do you think? Can Baahubali 2 make it happen? Vote and let us know!
