RIP Veteran actor Shashi Kapoor passes away at 79


Veteran actor Shashi Kapoor died today at Kokilaben Hospital in Mumbai. Shashi Kapoor who was 79, was admitted to the Kokilaben Ambani hospital in Mumbai as he was unwell for quite long time .The legendary actor is survived by his two sons, Kunal and Karan, and a daughter, Sanjana.

The third and youngest son of Prithviraj Kapoor, Shashi Kapoor made his Bollywood debut in 1961, as the lead actor, in the film Dharamputra. The legendary actor did many hit films in 60’s and 70’s which included Jab Jab Phool Khile , Sharmilee, Kabhi Kabie , Roti Kapada aur Makaan etc. Shashi Kapoor did almost more than 150 films.

Along with Kapoor Family, the Entire Film Industry is shocked for the demise of the legendary actor.

Prominent Politicians and film industry personalities paid their last tribute to the veteran actor .

President Ram Nath Kovind tweeted , “Sorry to hear of the demise of Shashi Kapoor, well-known actor, with a repertoire of Indian and international films. His support for meaningful cinema as a producer and pivotal role in the theatre movement in India too are cherished. Condolences to his family”

 I&B Minister Smriti Irani wrote  ”Saddened by the demise of legendary actor Shashi Kapoor ji. His contribution to Indian Cinema is monumental. Shashi ji’s passing away marks the end of an era. My deepest condolences to his loved ones, colleagues and fans. May his soul rest in peace. Om Shanti!”

Karan Johar tweeted , “ the most charming and enigmatic actor ever…a gentleman movie star! His legacy in film and theatre is exceptional…thoughts and prayers with the family….his work will always live on…
