khiladiyon ka khiladi Akshay Kumar‘s real name Rajiv Hari Om Bhatia was born on September 9, 1967 in Amritsar, Punjab, India. His father was a government worker. From a very young age, he was recognised as a performer, particularly as a dancer. Kumar was raised in Delhi’s Chandni Chowk neighbourhood before moving to Mumbai. In Mumbai, he lived in Koliwada, which was another Punjabi dominated area. He studied at Don Bosco School and then Khalsa College, where he took an interest in sports.

As a teenager he wanted to master martial arts, but as his father was scared of risking his future with his crazy heroic cravings he promised him to gift all that he wished if, he would secure first class in his board exam. Akshay did achieve his father’s demand and flew to Bangkok for Martial Arts training. Once there he lived with his uncle. His uncle got him job at Metro Guest House where his first salary was, just Rs 1,500.

He studied martial arts in Bangkok and worked as a waiter. He then came back to Mumbai, where he started teaching martial arts. One of his students happened to be a photographer and recommended him to do modelling. The student gave him a modelling assignment for a small company. For his two hours posing in front of the camera, he got Rs. 5,000, compared to his previous salary of Rs. 4,000 in one month. That was one of the main reasons why he chose to be a model. After a couple of months of modelling, Kumar was finally offered a lead role by producer Pramod Chakravarthy for the movie Deedar.

A long road traveled, from a waiter in Bangkok, to one of the most successful actors in Bollywood, Akshay Kumar has come a long way. As an instructor in martial artist, Rajiv Bhatia always dreamt of making it big in that field but when a student suggested that with his good looks and a good built, he should take up modelling, the anonymous Rajiv Bhatia began his journey as Akshay Kumar who then slowly but surely worked his way up to becoming one of the most talented stars of the industry. Stunned at the pay package and his success as a model, Akshay took the next obvious step, and entered into films. However unlike most of the other stars in his time, Akshay neither had star parents, nor a godfather to launch him.

The star was famously called ‘Khiladi’ made him superstar in Bollywood. After that, Bollywood saw a slew of Akshay’s movies with ‘Khiladi’ in their title. This handsome man out of nowhere suddenly entered Bollywood’s film industry. Because of his success as model, he was offered films. Along with his good looks and excellent martial art skills, Akshay was always the first choice to do adventurous movies. He did his own death defying stunts.The Bollywood super star started his career as an action hero and his initial success in Bollywood came through action flicks. Once he was popular as an action hero and he could hardly get any role beyond action movies. His debut film was ‘Saugandh‘ which was reeased in 1991. Akshay Kumar always prefer to do adventurous movies in which he do all his stunt scene on his own. Akshay was well known for his ‘Khiladi’ series an Indian version of James Bond such as Mr Bond, (1992),Khiladi (1992), Main Khiladi Tu Anar (1994), Mr & Mrs Khiladi (1997) and Khiladi 420 (2000). Apart from action films Akshay Kumar has done a number of romantic and comedy films. Akshaya Kumar starred in the comedy film “Hera Pheri” along with Paresh Rawal and Suniel Shetty, which was a big success at the box office. Since then he has starred in many comedy films like Awara Paagal Deewana’, “Mujhse Shaadi Karogi” , “Garam Masala”, “Phir Hera Pheri” and “Bhul Bhulaiya”. Akshaya Kumar also played a negative character in the movie “Ajnabi”, for which he won the Filmfare Best Villain award.
During his years in Bollywood, Kumar was romantically linked with several of his co-star actresses. He dated with his many co-stars including Raveena Tandon, shilpa Shetty, Pooja Bhatra but finaly he got married Twinkle Khanna. Their son named Aarav was born on September 15, 2002.
