Shilpa Shetty was born on June 8, 1975 in Mangalore, India to Surendra and Sunanda Shetty. Her parents are the manufacturers of tamper-proof caps for the pharmaceutical industry. She has one sister Shamita Shetty who is also a Bollywood actress, They have worked together in the film Fareb (2005). She studied at St. Anthony Girls’ High School in Chembur and later she attended Podar College in Matunga. While she was studying at school she was the captain of the volleyball team. Shilpa Shetty is a trained Bharatanatyam dancer and she also has a black belt in karate. She started her career at the age of 16 when she modelled for Limca in 1991. In 1993 she started her film acting career when she made her debut in the film Baazigar. She did her first lead role in the film Aag in 1994. She modelled at the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week in early September 2007. In February 2009 Shilpa and her husband became the part owners of the Indian Premier League franchise cricket team Rajasthan Royals.
Shilpa Shetty made her debut in bollywood with the film Baazigar in 1993. The following year she delivered another blockbuster hit ‘Main Khiladi Tu Anari’ opposite Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan. Her performances in Dhadkan (2000) and Rishtey (2002) were appreciated, while her portrayal of an AIDS patient in Phir Milenge (2004) won her many accolades. Shilpe Shetty was seen judging a kids dance reality show Super Dancer aired on Sony Entertainment Television. She was seen alongwith Geeta Kapur and Anurag Basu in the show won by Ditya Bhande. She married Raj Kundra on 22 November 2009 and the couple has a child Viaan Raj Kundra.
